Becoming Supernatural

I am currently exploring Dr. Joe Dispenza's book, Becoming Supernatural. He explains that when we operate on auto-pilot, we are essentially allowing our bodies to drag us into a predictable future that includes the same, familiar things from our past. Every time we experience something in our external environment that feels similar to something we've experienced in the past, the new experience triggers us to feel the same emotions we felt at the time of the first event; making it quite likely that we'll behave in the same way we did when the event initially occurred. Because we keep thinking, acting and feeling the same ways without ever changing anything about ourselves, the essence of who we are becomes a memorized set of automatic thoughts, reflexive emotional reactions, unconscious habits and behaviors, subconscious beliefs and perceptions, and routine familiar attitudes.

Dr. Dispenza says that the only way we can change our lives and break free from this cycle, is to change our energy. Since where we place our attention is where we place our energy, Joe says that in order to change our way of being, we have to change how we think and feel. We have to let go of old thoughts and corresponding feelings and create new thoughts about what we want our lives to look like and how we want to feel. He says we can heal any condition we've manifested in our lives (physically and/or emotionally) by (1) releasing self-limiting emotions that have become programmed into our bodies from years of thinking and feeling the same way; and (2) emotionally rehearsing new states of feeling, which will eventually become our new normal. Joe emphasizes that it's not enough to know what we want in life, but we must practice on a daily basis to feel the way we we'd like to feel, living the new life we're intending for our future.

Exercise:

Think of something specific you want to create in your future. It could involve your work, your health or perhaps even a relationship….pick whatever resonates with you now. Write out 3-5 thoughts about what that would look like. Then write out 3-5 emotions you will feel when that future has been manifested. By practicing what you want to create and how you want to feel, you will start thinking and acting like it has already happened; and by doing so, you'll attract the internal and external resources you need to manifest your desired future self/scenario.
